Are you planning your upcoming trip to Hawaii? With a unique climate and plenty of adventurous things to do, you may be wondering what to bring to be prepared for your trip. Let’s dive into the essential items to make sure you have everything you need for the fun-filled getaway to paradise!

Lightweight Clothing

Hawaii has a mild climate, nearly all year long. Lightweight clothing that can be easily layered is a great option to cover those warmer days and cooler nights. These items can include shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sundresses, and of course, your bathing suit! You will most likely want a few pairs of shoes to cover your range of activities, including waterproof sandals and sneakers for potential hikes or exploring the town.

Hiking Gear

As mentioned above, there are plenty of options to explore Hawaii's diverse landscapes. When it comes to hiking, you will want to have a good pair of shoes that are sturdy. Moisture-wicking clothing for comfortability as temperatures change in elevation. You should also bring a reusable water bottle to bring during your outdoor adventure!

Sun Protection Options

The Hawaiian sun might be much stronger than what you are used to, so it's critical that you don’t forget sun protection! Consider bringing a strong SPF sunscreen than you typically wear, and an after sun-care lotion for those long beach days. It’s also a good idea to bring hats, sunglasses, and swim coverups to wear since you most likely spend a lot of time outdoors in the beautiful climate. If you’re able to, a portable umbrella or tent would be a great idea when you’re relaxing during the day. If you cannot travel with these items, you can consider renting beach gear available at local stores.

Golf Attire

Golf is an extremely popular sport in Hawaii, so if you plan on playing during your vacation, many of the golf courses require proper golf attire when you hit the links. Proper attire can include collared golf shirts, shorts, and pants. You can also plan on wearing your golf attire for a casual night on the town or a dinner with family and friends!

Insect Repellent

While Hawaii is not known for mosquitoes, some areas may have biting insects, especially during certain times of the year or in more remote locations. Packing insect repellent can protect you from bug bites while exploring outdoor attractions or hiking through nature!

Travel Documents

This may go without saying but don't forget to pack essential travel documents, including your passport (if traveling from outside the U.S.) or any necessary identification for air travel. You should also bring your medical or auto insurance cards in case of an emergency, especially if you are renting a car during your time on the island.
