Many thanks to Arelli for rescuing the drone, and to Jay for ensuring that our stay was perfect.

Aina Malia is a snorkeler's paradise - there are steps going down into the clear waters of Waialea Bay right from the house! We saw several turtles, including one that was swimming right by the steps as I entered the water, so I followed him as he paddled with the current around the point into Puako Bay. Another unforgettable experience was the nighttime manta ray snorkel tour at Mauna Kea hotel with https://mantarayadvocates.com.

The location of this property is amazing and despite the extremely high winds while we were there, we enjoyed swimming from the house in the early morning while the 69's was empty.
Homes so close to the water can sometimes have a musty feeling, but this home felt fresh and very well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and quality of bedding nice.
The home was well appointed and clean.
The outdoor showers were a highlight as they are private and lovely.
It really is an amazing spot. I often looked at the house from the beach wondering what it was like. It did not disappoint, what a wonderful home. Thank you.

We enjoy the privacy, the direct access to the ocean, the views of Waialea Bay, the Kohala Range, and the tree lined beach. It is difficult break the experience into parts; it is an experience that starts when you walk through the gates and look out through the palm trees to Maui, from the smells of the flowers in the morning, to the sound of the surf, the setting is unique and it combines to create a relaxed tranquil environment.
The ocean activities are unlimited, the beach is unique, and the island offers - volcano exploration at Volcano National Park, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding, horseback riding, sailing, helicopter adventures, and experiences in the Hawaiian Culture at Puukohala Heiau National Park. We have participated in all of it over the time we have spent at Aina Malia and each year discover a new activity.
We have recommended Aina Malia to others and one recently booked it for seven days and will be rebooking next year for a longer period. It easy to share this opportunity with others spend several weeks once you have tried it.

This was our second stay at Aina Malia. I cannot say enough about its spectacular location. The fact that there is no indoor dining has not been an issue for us on either of our stays. We love the property and appreciated the ability to have a kayak and paddleboards, along with the necessary PFDs for children ranging in age from 1-10, delivered to the house.

We loved it.
Wonderfully appointed kitchen, including beautiful cookware. We really appreciated the two refrigerators and then we found the third fridge in the outdoor bar area and moved all the beer there. :-)
Plenty of towels for the bath and beach; comfortable beds and linens. I would highly recommend purchasing the air conditioning. The temperature reached the mid-80s during our July stay and we appreciated having a cool space out of the sun in mid-day. All in all, the best all-around property we have rented in our 6+ visits to the Big Island.

We will be back to this wonderful paradise! My family and I rented this beautiful Ohana for a Week. We wanted a place that our family could gather for a week to celebrate our 40th Anniversary, my 63rd Birthday and have a shower for a future daughter in la who lives and works here. Aina Malia was the perfect spot. My twin boys had both recently gotten engaged and our daughter married last summer so this was an opportunity for all 8 of us to get to know each other better and forge some new family memories. Having separate entrances and bathrooms for each couple worked great and everyone loved the outside showers and most comfortable beds. The home was so well organized and everything was well labeled so searching was kept to a minimum and they had EVERYTHING we might have needed. Having the pass through from the outdoor dining table to the kitchen allowed for whoever was cooking that night to still feel a part of the action. Each couple had a night to prepare a meal for everyone and on our anniversary we had a friend come up from Kona to make dinner for us all. Having the double fridges allowed us to bring much of the food up with us. And big BONUS was the Bar fridge for sparkling water and beer! The Eagle Ray sitings in the calm morning clear water were the perfect compliment to our coffee and later snorkeling or paddle boarding. The yard made for some exciting Bocce Ball games in the early evening as well. Having the beautiful new washer and dryer made keeping towels dry so easy. While we did not have much down time (by choice we are an active group!), the movie selection was extremely tempting! The beautiful glass and wood bowls as well as the original art truly made us feel that a special place was being shared with us. Someone was always finding new details in the tile and ceramic work, or with the asian wood components incorporated into the home. Sleep always came easy by 10 PM with the fans cooling us when the natural breezes stopped. The sounds of the birds got us moving again by 6AM! Healthy schedule! Having the hiking trail that follows the coast was a bonus for the runners in the group and my morning swim to the rock island and back was perfect. We hosted a shower with a small group of my future daughter in laws friends from here on the island. They loved being able to walk down the rock path and step into the sandy bottom of the bay. So memories of Aina Malia will have to hold me for a few years! Mahalo for making it so easy to be in someone else's home and feel so at home! ~ The Doucettes

Sunshine, Palm Trees! Luxury Ocean Front Home on Wailea Bay offers Tranquility
Exotic, Functional, Private...Perfect
As a family of 7 (three youngsters, 4 adults), we couldn't have asked for a more perfect piece of paradise. The accommodations are thoughtfully appointed for leisure and fun, steps from easy entrance into Waialea Bay...snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding and sunning heaven. The outdoor spaces are beautifully shaded by mature trees, perfect for al fresco dining and watching the cardinals, Brazilian cardinals, and saffron finches. Each of the three suites has its own artful outdoor shower. The tower bedroom is perfect for naps and teenage get-aways. The living spaces were immaculately clean and fresh, the linens crisp and luxurious. The AC, though rarely needed during our stay, quickly cools those spaces that might heat up when the house is closed while you're away on an adventure. The "steps away" State Beach is one of the best and most picturesque in all of Hawaii. Stunning tropical fish and turtles abound in the bay. The owner has taken great care to create a uniquely private and special destination with manicured but approachable grounds...perfect for kids, and the interiors are populated with artful tropical tile work and beautiful Hawaiian themed decoration. The property manager (Pattie Freeman) is responsive and has seemed to anticipate all discerning travelers needs. Good grocery shopping and wonderful restaurants are within a 10 minute drive from the gated property. Whether you intend to arrive and plant yourself in this very private estate, or use it as a base to explore this gloriously diverse island, this is definitely a rental worth considering. Kindly, Mark

Unique, Private Ocean Front ~ The location is an ideal balance of allowing easy access to a popular beach while granting exclusive privacy. The bottom of the steps in front are sandy, with an easy wade to the beach. (Or, if you want to keep your feet dry, take the Ala Kahakai trail 100' up the road to the beach.) To counter a recent negative review: yes, people can climb the rocks in the front of the house - but we saw this only once in our week. Between the kiawe and impassable rocks, it takes a determined and frustrated tourist to explore the south end of the beach. And then there is a fence and more thorns between the rocks and the yard, so that you can feel safe napping in a hammock while being granted a stunning view. Behind the house, the beach access is now closed and the wall and sturdy gate left me comfortable enough to leave kayaks, bikes and gear out overnight. The house is charming, bordering on peculiar. The kitchen was easy to work in, the house clean, and the surrounding community quiet and fascinating. It greatly exceeded our expectations and I wish we have spent another week. I've rented seven ocean front homes in the the Hawaiian Islands, and for this price, none have come close in quality and location.

Thanks so much, Pattie. We had the best time ever!! I definitely hope to come back again soon. Thank you so much for accommodating us on such short notice, too. It was a great house, and I cannot tell you how easy it was to find everything with the labeled drawers. We had one of the light bulbs burn out on the lanai, and I looked in the kitchen, found the drawer marked light bulbs and we were back in business. That was awesome!
I will definitely be in touch,

Aloha from MN --where spring has finally come! Only had one more late May snow/sleet after we got home --very strange spring weather even for MN!
First, I want to thank you for assisting us with the wonderful stay we had with our family at Aina Malia! We greatly appreciated
your help with directions the night we arrived and the welcoming food baskets, card and beautiful flower arrangements throughtout the house!
What a great way to start after a long day in airports!
Thank you for getting the food orded at Puako General Store and paying for it -- hope you received the envelope we left with the money we
owed you and payment for the house key. Greatly appreciate you doing that for us!!
Additionally, thank you for assisting with the delivery from Dorkel of the crib and highchair --both worked out great! We left the house locked up and I
hope that they were able to contact you to pick everything up afterwards.
My apology for the delay in sending a thank you to you --- forgot how exhausting the red eye from Kona to LA and then LA to Mpls is --luckily our
grandson slept the whole way and time schedules finally got adjusted for all of us as we got caught up on our work schedules.
Lastly, our daughter who had the other rental car and with her boyfriend speng another week on the island, has the extra house key for Aina Malia and
is needs to know what address to send it to. Could you email the address you want it sent to?
Thanks again Pattie for a wonderful family celebration -- we had a tremendous time at Aina Malia and am so glad that were able to coordinate this vacation for
our family --the house worked out so well and the site on the ocean was breathtaking --what a great way to start and end each day!
Hope you are doing well! Please thank Jon House too!
